Retail and Showroom Fit-Out

On retail projects the programme is usually fixed to an opening date. Inside a shopping centre, working hours are set by centre management, which means the work runs on the night shift.

01

Scope

Retail fit-out scope is built around the brand standard and the condition of the space.

  • Shopfront and facade works
  • Flooring
  • Ceilings and lighting
  • Shelving, plinths and display units
  • Cash desk and bespoke joinery
  • Electrical and low current
  • Fitting rooms and stockroom layout

02

Working to brand standard

On chain store projects, everything is manufactured to the brand's own design manual. Materials, colours, surface textures and junction details are all defined there, and samples are signed off by the brand team before work starts. If the manual calls for a material sourced from abroad, lead time becomes the most critical item in the programme and the order date is calculated backwards from the opening. Where a local equivalent is to be used, that too is approved by the brand team, never substituted by a decision on site.

03

Working inside a shopping centre

Centre management sets rules for working hours, delivery times, lift access and noise limits. The programme is built around them: most of the work happens after the store closes, and in the morning the area is cleaned and the hoarding closed before the centre opens. Fit-out permits, insurance and bonds from centre management are part of the programme; you cannot start on site until they are in place. Any work on the fire detection and sprinkler systems is carried out under the supervision of the centre's technical team.

04

Shopfront and lighting

The shopfront shapes how the store is seen from the street or the mall and sets the first impression of the brand. Glass sizes, frame details and the supporting system are set by the facade line; inside a shopping centre that line is fixed by the centre's own architecture. Colour temperature and light output are chosen for the product range, and shelving and display units are planned together with the fitting layout. Shopfront lighting runs off a separate circuit so it can stay on while the store is closed.

Frequently asked questions

Common questions about programme, brand standards and working hours on retail projects.

How long does a store in a shopping centre take to deliver?

Because the work runs on the night shift, daily progress is limited compared with projects worked in normal hours. The programme is built around the opening date of the centre and the hours it allows.

Do you build to the brand manual?

Yes. Manufacturing and material selections follow the brand's design manual, and samples are signed off before work starts.

Can you work on several stores at once?

Yes, multiple locations can be coordinated under a single programme, with one point of contact across all of them.

A floor plan, the number of users and an approximate area are enough for us to assess your enquiry. If you do not have them yet, get in touch anyway; we fill in the gaps during the site survey.
